Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas
2022
Located next to the central avenue and themain development axis of the Chiapas capital, this space serves as a containerfor pedestrians seeking a moment of rest under the shade of the trees, a pausefrom the noise of the city or simply a showcase of the dynamics of the thrivingcapital. Likewise, the design of the new space protects children throughdefined spaces for play away from cars and defined by benches and trees tocreate different areas where various activities can be developed.
As a connector of pre-existinginfrastructures, the plaza interacts with the Jaime Sabines Auditorium creatinga large vestibule for events with natural shade, where people can comment onwhat they have seen or simply pass the time. At the same time, a connection wascreated with the Municipal Market "5 de mayo" through a newcirculation that serves to slow down the flow of cars and make the journey fromone end to the other accessible.
But the most important thing about thisproject was the transformation of the space at night, since the road becomes anextension of the market, where local vendors and street vendors create anopen-air dining area, which, accompanied by the new lighting, extended thehours of this space to create a place of recreation that is also nocturnal.
